Turkish Cuisine Week celebrates Anatolia’s culinary heritage

Communications Director Burhanettin Duran has marked Turkish Cuisine Week as a celebration of Türkiye’s rich culinary and civilisational legacy. Under the theme “Heritage on One Table,” the event promotes Anatolian flavours and traditions of sharing, abundance, hospitality, and culture.
Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran has underscored the deep cultural significance of Turkish Cuisine Week, describing the annual event as a vibrant celebration of Türkiye’s gastronomic and civilisational heritage. In a post on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Duran noted that this year’s fifth edition, held under the theme “Heritage on One Table” and under the auspices of First Lady Emine Erdoğan, showcases Anatolia’s traditional flavours alongside the nation’s enduring cultural legacy.
More than food
“The memory of a nation sometimes lives in a folk song, and sometimes in hearts gathered around the same table,” Duran wrote. He emphasised that Turkish cuisine has for centuries represented not merely sustenance but also “sharing, abundance, hospitality and culture.” The event highlights how food traditions preserve collective memory and foster social bonds across generations.
Gratitude to culinary custodians
Duran expressed thanks to chefs, producers, and all those who contribute to preserving and passing down Turkish culinary traditions to future generations, congratulating participants on Turkish Cuisine Week. The annual celebration, part of Türkiye’s broader cultural diplomacy efforts, has gained international recognition, promoting Anatolian cuisine as a cornerstone of the country’s soft power. Turkish Cuisine Week coincides with similar heritage-focused events that reinforce national identity and cultural pride.
