Turkish Cyprus congratulates Anadolu Agency on 106th anniversary

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has marked Anadolu Agency’s 106th anniversary. Prime Minister Unal Ustel praised the agency’s commitment to impartial reporting, noting its role as a voice for Turkish Cypriots worldwide. Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertugruloglu also commended Anadolu for conveying the Turkish Cypriot cause, recalling its founding by Ataturk in 1920.
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has extended its warm congratulations to Anadolu Agency as the news organization celebrates 106 years since its founding. In separate statements, Prime Minister Unal Ustel and Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertugruloglu hailed the agency’s unwavering dedication to truth and objectivity, emphasizing its unique role as a bridge between Türkiye and the Turkish Cypriot people.
A voice for Turkish Cypriots
Ustel noted that Anadolu has long served as the memory and voice not only of Türkiye but also of the TRNC, adding that its reporting is followed with appreciation across the globe. “I congratulate Anadolu Agency, which serves as the memory and voice not only of Türkiye but also of the TRNC, on its 106th anniversary,” the prime minister said.
Founded under Ataturk’s directive
Foreign Minister Ertugruloglu recalled the agency’s historic origins, pointing out that it was established on April 6, 1920, by the order of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk during the darkest days of the War of Independence. “I sincerely congratulate Anadolu Agency, which was founded on April 6, 1920, under the directive of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk during the most difficult days of the War of Independence to make the rightful voice of the Turkish nation heard across the world, on its 106th anniversary,” he stated.
