Turkish industrial output grows 2.4% in November, led by tech

Türkiye's industrial production continued its expansion in November, posting a 2.4% annual increase. The growth was primarily driven by a significant surge in high-technology manufacturing, according to the latest official data.
Türkiye's industrial sector maintained its growth trajectory in November, with output rising by 2.4% compared to the same month last year. Data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Friday also showed a robust 2.5% increase on a monthly basis, signaling ongoing momentum in the manufacturing economy.
Sectoral Performance and High-Tech Surge
The annual growth was uneven across different industrial segments. Seven of the 12 main sub-sectors saw annual increases, while five recorded declines. The standout performer was the high-technology manufacturing index, which soared by 30.9% year-on-year. Significant annual gains were also noted in capital goods production, up 10.9%, and medium-high-technology output, which increased by 8.6%.
Areas of Contraction and Monthly Details
Conversely, the low-technology index fell by 4.6% annually, and the production of non-durable consumer goods declined by 6.4%. On a seasonally and calendar-adjusted monthly basis, nine sub-sectors expanded. Medium-high technology production led with a 10.5% monthly rise, followed by capital goods at 5.9%. The mining and quarrying index, however, contracted by 4.8% from the previous month.
Economic Context and Outlook
The data highlights a continuing structural shift within Turkish industry towards more advanced, value-added manufacturing. The strong performance in technology and capital goods segments points to underlying strength in investment-focused production, even as some consumer-oriented and extractive sectors showed weakness during the period.
