Türkiye and Kuwait strengthen ties with four new agreements during Erdogan's visit

Türkiye and Kuwait have solidified their partnership with the signing of four major agreements during President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's official visit to the Gulf nation. The deals, finalized at the Bayan Palace on Tuesday, are set to enhance collaboration across critical sectors including energy, maritime affairs, and investments, signaling a new chapter in Ankara-Kuwait relations.

Key Agreements Signed

Following high-level meetings, foreign ministers from both nations signed a maritime transport agreement and a memorandum of understanding for the mutual recognition of seafarers' certificates. These pacts are designed to facilitate smoother trade and personnel exchange between Türkiye's Transport and Infrastructure Ministry and Kuwait's Interior Ministry.

Energy and Investment Focus

A separate memorandum on cooperation in the energy sector was signed by the respective energy ministers, Alparslan Bayraktar and Subaih Abdulaziz Abdulmohsen Al-Muhaizem. Simultaneously, a crucial memorandum on direct investment incentives was inked between the Turkish Presidential Investment Office and Kuwait's Direct Investment Promotion Authority, represented by Ahmet Burak Daglıoglu and Sheikh Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Diplomatic Gestures and Regional Tour

The official visit was also marked by a symbolic gift from President Erdogan to the Kuwaiti Emir—a model of Türkiye's domestically produced electric vehicle, Togg. Kuwait served as the initial destination on President Erdogan's three-day diplomatic tour of Gulf states, which will also include official visits to Qatar and Oman.
