Türkiye's Communications Chief Labels Gaza Conflict 'Systematic Genocide'

Türkiye's Communications Chief Burhanettin Duran has characterized Israel's military operations in Gaza as a "systematic genocide," marking two years since the conflict's escalation in October 2023. In a social media statement, Duran asserted that the international community's failure to act represents a "record of shame" for global justice systems.

Duran emphasized that the situation extends beyond a regional conflict, stating it challenges fundamental human values and the international order. He declared, "The silence of the international community has once again exposed the failure of justice mechanisms," positioning the event as a moral test for global institutions.

Rejecting the term "conflict," Duran outlined the rationale for his classification, citing bombings, blockades, and systematic destruction that have resulted in tens of thousands of civilian casualties. He stated, "What is happening in Gaza is not a 'conflict' – it is a deliberate, systematic genocide and occupation," accusing Israel of depriving a people of their land and basic rights.

Reaffirming the nation's official stance, Duran noted that under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's leadership, Türkiye continues to advocate for the Palestinian cause on diplomatic and humanitarian fronts. He vowed that this support would persist until Palestinian voices are heard and justice is achieved, sharing a video titled "Endless Genocide: Gaza" to underscore the ongoing crisis.
