Türkiye's Turksat partners with Chinese firms on satellite technology

Türkiye's national satellite operator Turksat has entered a strategic partnership with China's leading satellite companies ChinaSat and Spacerail, marking a significant expansion of Türkiye's global satellite communications capabilities. The agreement, announced in an official statement, establishes a framework for joint technological development across multiple sectors including aviation, maritime, and emergency communications.

Multi-Orbit Technology Development

The collaboration will focus on creating advanced multi-orbit solutions that combine geostationary Earth orbit and low Earth orbit infrastructures. This technological approach aims to deliver high-capacity, low-latency communications services for critical sectors including energy, mining, maritime, and aviation industries, ensuring flexible and uninterrupted connectivity across Türkiye and international markets.

Expanded Service Capabilities

The partnership encompasses development of new technologies for global in-flight internet connectivity, maritime communications, terrestrial mobility solutions, emergency communications during disasters, and comprehensive multi-orbit services. ChinaSat, as China's largest satellite operator, brings substantial expertise to the collaboration, which is expected to significantly expand the coverage area and capabilities of satellite communications services.

Strategic Market Position

Turksat CEO Ahmed Hamdi Atalay stated the agreement will broaden the operator's influence in the global satellite communications market while developing solutions that meet demands for fast, secure, and uninterrupted communications infrastructure. Additional companies Aero Link and SinoSat will participate as solution partners, contributing specialized expertise to the high-capacity services developed through this international cooperation.
