Deadly mine collapse in Congo leaves at least 32 dead
Newly emerged footage from Lualaba Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo shows the moment the overcrowded Kalando copper-cobalt mine collapsed during intense rainfall, unleashing a powerful landslide that killed at least 32 people.
Although the site had been officially closed over serious safety concerns, large numbers of informal miners continued to work there, using fragile tunnels and improvised structures that failed under the saturated ground.
