Man protects Quran from burning at Michigan anti-Islam march
A Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, Jake Lang, attempted to burn a copy of the Quran during an anti-Islam march in Dearborn, Michigan. Lang threw the book to the ground while holding a canister of lighter fluid, prompting a counter-protester to quickly retrieve it before it could be set alight. “Don’t burn it, man. You can’t burn it,” the man said, according to footage circulated by journalist Brendan Gutenschwager.
Lang, who is running for Senate in Florida after receiving a pardon for his involvement in the January 6 Capitol breach, then claimed to have another Quran. Additional footage showed him placing a package of bacon on the holy book as the same counter-protester told him, “This is disrespectful.”
