The China–Brazil laboratory for radio astronomy technology will focus on developing cutting-edge technologies to meet the needs of astronomical observation. Complementary Satellite Service Agreement

In a related development, China's commercial satellite constellation, Spacesail, is set to provide satellite communication services to Brazil. The state news agency Xinhua reported that the network will deliver broadband internet access to remote and underserved regions of the country. The Spacesail constellation operates in low Earth orbit with a multi-layered design.

Timeline and Strategic Implications

The commercial network construction for Spacesail began in August of last year, with services expected to launch in Brazil by 2026. The dual announcements of the laboratory and the satellite deal underscore the deepening strategic partnership between the two BRICS nations in the critical fields of space technology and scientific research.
