China opposes Zelenskyy's threat of sanctions on Chinese individuals

Beijing has rejected Ukrainian President Zelenskyy's announcement of planned sanctions targeting Chinese individuals, stating its firm opposition to unilateral measures and reaffirming its role in peace efforts.
China has firmly rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's threat to impose sanctions on Chinese individuals alleged to be supporting Russia's military-industrial complex. Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian stated Beijing's opposition to unilateral sanctions lacking UN Security Council authorization.
Call for Correction and Defense of National Interests
Speaking in Beijing, Lin Jian urged Ukraine to "immediately correct its wrongdoings" and affirmed that China would defend the lawful rights of its companies and citizens. The remarks came a day after Zelenskyy stated on social media that a forthcoming sanctions package would target entities aiding Russia's war effort, "including, in particular, from China."
Reiteration of China's Diplomatic Stance
The spokesman reiterated China's diplomatic positioning on the Russia-Ukraine war, stating Beijing has been in communication with all parties since the conflict's start and is committed to promoting peace talks. He referenced China's participation, alongside Brazil, in the "Group of Friends of Peace" initiative aimed at a political solution to the crisis.
