Doctors Without Borders decries 'genocidal' Gaza ceasefire violations

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has condemned repeated violations of the Gaza ceasefire, stating Israeli attacks are perpetuating genocide against Palestinian civilians. The medical organization reported treating numerous casualties, including many children, and questioned the effectiveness of the truce.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has declared that repeated violations of the ceasefire in Gaza are perpetuating what the medical organization describes as genocide against Palestinian civilians. In a statement released on social media platform X on Thursday, the French medical charity asserted that ongoing Israeli military actions continue to cause overwhelming civilian casualties despite the truce agreement that took effect earlier this month.
Medical Teams Overwhelmed with Civilian Casualties
MSF medical teams working across Gaza reported treating severely wounded patients from Israeli attacks on Wednesday, with particularly alarming casualties at Al-Aqsa, Nasser, and Al-Shifa hospitals. Dr. Morten Rostrup, a physician at Al-Aqsa hospital, described desperate conditions in emergency rooms, stating, "When I got to the emergency room, it was a desperate situation. There is no doubt this is an attack on civilians, with so many children being injured and killed." He pointedly questioned, "Do we really call this a ceasefire?"
Ceasefire Violation Statistics
According to MSF, Israeli forces have killed 211 people since the ceasefire began earlier this month, based on figures from Gaza's Health Ministry. The organization reported that in just the past 24 hours, Israeli strikes across the territory killed at least 104 people—including 46 children and 20 women—while injuring 253 others, among them 78 children. These continuing attacks represent multiple violations of the ceasefire based on US President Donald Trump's 20-point plan that was supposed to take effect on October 10.
Long-Term Conflict Death Toll
The recent violence adds to a devastating death toll from over two years of Israeli attacks on Gaza that began in October 2023, with more than 68,000 people killed according to health authorities. MSF has repeatedly called for a sustained ceasefire to stop what it characterizes as an overwhelming level of death and catastrophic injuries suffered by civilians, arguing that the repeated violations of truce agreements perpetuate the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged territory.
