The 23rd Doha Forum concluded on Sunday in Qatar, capping two days of high-stakes discussions on the world's most critical challenges. Under the theme "Justice in Action: Beyond Promises to Progress," the event hosted over 6,000 participants from more than 150 nations, including heads of state, foreign ministers, and global business leaders.
High-level participation underscores forum's significance
The gathering, organized by Qatar's Foreign Ministry, featured prominent figures such as Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The attendance of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and World Economic Forum President Borge Brende highlighted the intersection of geopolitics, technology, and economics at the forum, where Anadolu Agency served as the global communications partner.
Gaza crisis and strategic relations take center stage
The forum's agenda, developed with leading global think tanks, placed intense focus on ongoing international crises. Key sessions included "The Gaza Reckoning: Reassessing Global Responsibilities and Pathways to Peace," reflecting the urgent humanitarian and political dimensions of the conflict. Strategic dialogues also examined "Gulf–EU Relations in the Age of Strategic Isolation" and the delicate balance in "US-China Relations: Navigating the Risks and Opportunities of a Changing Global Order."
Debating the dual-use dilemma of emerging technologies
A critical strand of conversation addressed the rapid evolution of technology and its governance. The session titled "AI as a Double-Edged Sword: Strategies for Responsible Use in the Military Domain" underscored global concerns over the weaponization of artificial intelligence and the pressing need for international frameworks to manage its risks, tying technological advancement directly to themes of global justice and security.
