Erdogan condemns Sudan civilian killings, urges OIC solidarity

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has strongly condemned the recent killings of civilians in Sudan's El-Fasher, calling for the protection of the country's sovereignty. Addressing the OIC COMCEC session in Istanbul, he also criticized Israel's actions in Gaza and the West Bank, warning against annexation attempts and violations of holy sites.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued a strong condemnation of the recent violence against civilians in Sudan's El-Fasher during his opening address at the 41st session of the OIC's COMCEC in Istanbul on Monday. He emphasized the urgent need to protect Sudan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, asserting that the international community must not remain silent.
A Call to Protect Sudan
“No one who carries a heart in their chest—not a stone—can accept massacres against civilians in Sudan's El-Fasher in recent days. We cannot remain silent about this,” President Erdogan stated. He underscored the importance of standing in solidarity with the Sudanese people during this period of conflict and instability, reinforcing Türkiye's consistent diplomatic stance on preserving the unity of fellow nations.
Criticism of Israeli Actions
Shifting focus to the ongoing situation in Palestine, the Turkish leader contrasted the conduct of the parties involved in the ceasefire. He noted that Hamas appears committed to the agreement, while Israel, he asserted, has continued actions that undermine peace. President Erdogan reported that over 200 people have been killed in Gaza since the truce began and highlighted ongoing Israeli military operations in the West Bank.

Safeguarding Palestinian Rights
President Erdogan also voiced firm opposition to potential Israeli policies regarding Palestinian territories. “We cannot allow attempts to annex the West Bank, change the status of Jerusalem, or any attempts to harm the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque,” he declared. His remarks at the COMCEC meeting positioned Türkiye as a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights and a critic of Israeli policies within the forum of Islamic cooperation.
