EU Calls for Immediate Implementation of Gaza Ceasefire Deal

The European Union has issued a strong call for the immediate execution of a recently agreed-upon ceasefire plan for the Gaza Strip. In an official statement released on Friday, the bloc emphasized that the agreement presents a crucial chance to halt the prolonged conflict and alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis.

The plan, which received backing from the Israeli government, seeks to achieve an immediate halt to hostilities and secure the release of all hostages held in the region. The EU statement explicitly calls on all involved parties to "fully implement the agreement without delay," a move it says would facilitate a lasting ceasefire and enable large-scale humanitarian aid delivery.

The Union commended the intensive diplomatic negotiations led by the United States, with significant support from key nations including Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Türkiye. This collective effort was highlighted as instrumental in reaching the consensus needed for the deal, which is seen as a foundational step towards a sustainable political resolution based on the two-state solution.

Reaffirming its commitment, the EU pledged to continue its support for the safe and unhindered distribution of humanitarian assistance in coordination with international partners. The bloc also expressed its readiness to contribute to the stabilization and reconstruction of Gaza through its existing missions and by supporting the Palestinian Authority.
