Gaza government: Direct damage from Israel's war tops $33 billion in 2025

The Gaza government estimates direct damage to 15 vital sectors from Israel's military campaign in 2025 has exceeded $33 billion. The assessment details near-total devastation of agriculture, infrastructure, housing, and health facilities in the besieged enclave.
The government in Gaza has released a comprehensive damage assessment, estimating that the initial direct losses from Israel's military operations in 2025 have surpassed $33 billion across 15 vital sectors. The figures illustrate the scale of devastation inflicted on the enclave's economy and infrastructure over the past year.
Catastrophic Losses in Agriculture and Infrastructure
According to the Government Media Office, the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors have been "completely devastated," with over 80% of agricultural land damaged. Key figures include a drop in vegetable cultivation area from 93,000 to just 4,000 dunams, the destruction of 1,000 agricultural wells, and 500 livestock farms. Infrastructure losses are equally staggering, with over 700 water wells destroyed, 3,080 kilometers of electricity lines damaged, 2,000 kilometers of roads razed, and 400 kilometers of water and sewage networks ruined.
Destruction of Housing, Health, and Civic Institutions
The report states that Israel completely demolished 106,400 homes in 2025, with an additional 66,000 rendered uninhabitable. This has exacerbated the displacement crisis, affecting approximately 2 million people. The health sector suffered massively, with 22 hospitals disabled and 211 ambulances targeted. Educational and cultural infrastructure was also systematically damaged: 95% of schools were hit, 34 mosques completely destroyed, and 21 of Gaza's 60 cemeteries razed. The office stated Israel used over 112,000 tons of explosives during the year, destroying 90% of Gaza's infrastructure. This immense humanitarian and physical toll underscores the urgent need for a durable ceasefire and massive international reconstruction efforts, a cause championed by nations including Türkiye, which has consistently called for an end to the violence and increased humanitarian access.
