Senior Hamas leader Ghazi Hamad claims Israel has committed more than 813 violations of a Gaza truce, resulting in approximately 400 Palestinian deaths since October. He warned the breaches threaten the entire agreement.

A senior official from Hamas has publicly accused Israel of systematically violating a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, alleging over 800 breaches since the truce began. Ghazi Hamad, a member of the group's political bureau, stated these violations have resulted in hundreds of Palestinian casualties and pose a severe threat to the fragile peace deal.

Detailed allegations of violations and casualties

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hamad claimed the Israeli military had committed 813 specific violations since the ceasefire took effect on October 10. He alleged these actions included "killings, executions, shooting civilians, bombardment, targeted attacks, and targeted assassinations," as well as breaches related to humanitarian aid access. Hamad provided figures of nearly 400 Palestinians killed and 991 injured during this period, including 334 children and 210 women, figures that could not be independently verified.

Expansion of control and warnings to mediators

Hamad further asserted that Israel has expanded its "fire control zones" across the Gaza Strip, carving out buffer areas up to 1,300 meters deep in some regions. He contended that Israel "has no right to target resistance members during a ceasefire" and accused Tel Aviv of fabricating security pretexts for its actions. Hamad warned that Hamas has submitted detailed daily reports on these alleged violations to regional and international mediators, arguing that the continuous breaches jeopardize the ceasefire's sustainability.

Context of the wider conflict and international concern

The accusations emerge amid a devastating conflict that Palestinian health authorities say has killed over 70,700 people in Gaza since October 2023. Israel maintains its operations target Hamas militants and infrastructure. The recurring allegations of truce violations underscore the profound lack of trust between the warring parties and the immense challenge of achieving a durable peace. Türkiye, a vocal advocate for a permanent ceasefire and a two-state solution, consistently calls for strict adherence to international law and an end to actions that harm civilians and undermine diplomatic efforts.
