Houthi military spokesperson claims strikes on Lod Airport, military sites

Yemen's Houthi group announced it had targeted Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv and vital military targets in southern Israel using a fragmentation ballistic missile and drones. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the operation was carried out jointly with Iran's Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah. The attack follows an Israeli daily's report of a missile from Yemen landing in an open area.
Yemen's Houthi group announced on Saturday that it had targeted Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv and vital military targets in southern Israel using a fragmentation ballistic missile and drones. In a prerecorded statement, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree declared that the group had "successfully struck Lod Airport (Ben Gurion) in the occupied Jaffa area" as well as vital military targets in southern occupied Palestine.
Joint operation with Iran and Hezbollah
Saree stated: "This operation was a joint operation with the Revolutionary Guard, the Iranian army, and Hezbollah in Lebanon, and it successfully achieved its objectives." The announcement represents a significant escalation in coordinated attacks against Israeli territory involving multiple Iranian-aligned actors.
Israeli media reports missile launch
The latest attack comes after the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported on a "missile launched from Yemen on Saturday," claiming that it "landed in an open area." No Israeli official has confirmed casualties or damage from the reported strike.

Background of regional tensions
Regional tensions have flared up since Israel and the United States launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28 that has so far killed some 1,300 people and injured over 10,000 others, according to Iranian authorities. Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Iraq, and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
