Iran’s foreign minister: US chooses ‘reckless’ war

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Washington of abandoning diplomacy for “reckless military adventure” whenever a deal nears. He also rejected US intelligence on Iran’s missile arsenal, claiming readiness at “1,000%” and missile capacity at 120% of pre-war levels.
Iran’s top diplomat has launched a sharp verbal attack on the United States, accusing Washington of repeatedly turning away from diplomatic solutions in favor of military action. In a post on X, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated: “Every time a diplomatic solution is on the table, the US opts for a reckless military adventure.”
Defiance and missile claims
Araghchi added that regardless of the causes, “the outcome is the same: Iranians never bow to pressure.” He also dismissed reported CIA assessments of Iran’s missile capabilities, writing: “The CIA is wrong. Our missile inventory and launcher capacity are not at 75% compared to Feb. 28. The correct figure is 120%.” Referring to the day the US and Israel launched their war on Iran, Araghchi concluded: “As for our readiness to defend our people: 1,000%.”
Context of rising tensions
The foreign minister’s remarks come amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations mediated by Pakistan, with Washington pushing for a 14-point framework agreement. Despite Trump’s claims of progress, Tehran has yet to issue a formal response, and recent military exchanges in the Strait of Hormuz have further strained relations.
