Iran's Pezeshkian to visit Pakistan in first overseas trip since war

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is expected to arrive in Islamabad on Tuesday for his first overseas visit since Washington and Tel Aviv launched military action against the Islamic Republic in late February, according to government sources, as Pakistan continues its efforts to mediate between the warring parties.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is expected to arrive in Pakistan on Tuesday for a one-day visit, which would mark his first overseas trip since the United States and Israel launched a war against the Islamic Republic in late February, government sources in Islamabad said on Monday.
During the stay, Pezeshkian is scheduled to hold talks with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who presided over quadrilateral negotiations with the United States, Qatar and Iran in the Swiss city of Burgenstock on Sunday, sources added.
Islamabad's peace efforts
Pakistan has served as the primary mediator since the April 8 ceasefire agreement reached under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Islamabad facilitated direct talks between Washington and Tehran in Switzerland over the weekend, according to diplomatic sources.
Pezeshkian paid a state visit to Pakistan last August, months before the current conflict erupted. Official confirmation of Tuesday's expected trip remains pending, though preparations for the high-level meetings have been completed.
