Iran and the Assad regime agreed on forming a terror corridor from Syria’s Afrin to the Mediterranean with the PKK/PYD

With the support of Iran and the Assad regime, the U.S.-backed Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) and Democratic Union Party (PYD) are planning to advance to the Mediterranean from Syria’s Afrin.

General Suhail Haydar from the Assad regime and Iran’s General Qasem Soleimani, who is responsible for Iran’s foreign wars, recently met in Nubl, in northern Syria.

The meeting, held in May, was also attended by members of the PKK/PYD and the Mukawama Suri terrorist organization.

At the secret meeting, while discussing how the PYD should proceed in a 150-kilometer zig-zag route to reach the Mediterranean from Afrin, Qasem Soleimani and Assad’s representatives expressed that they would provide all forms of support to the terrorist organization along the southern border.

It was decided that while the PYD would move toward the Mediterranean, the Assad regime would provide support from the air as well as on land.

‘No opposition forces on the border’

Assad and Iranian officials believe that the PKK/PYD, which is preparing to attack opposition-held Idlib in order to open up to the Mediterranean, can complete the plan of reaching the Mediterranean in within nine months at the latest.

According to the plan, the corridor to the Mediterranean will proceed in the following direction in Syria starting from Afrin: Darat Izza, Atmeh, Sarmada, Bab al-Hawa, Harem, Salqin, Darkush, al-Yakubiye, Cenudi, Hibbit al-juz, Jisr ash-Shugur, Ayn al-Bayda, Jabal Akrad, Han al-Juz, Turkmen Mountain and Kessab.

During the meeting, Syria’s border with Turkey was also discussed, and it was agreed that the PYD and Assad regime would continue to work together when the border was entirely seized.

Those attending the meeting also agreed that the 911 kilometer line extending from the Yarubiye Border Gate to Kesep in the Mediterranean should be cleared of opposition forces and that all ties with Turkey should be cut off.

PYD terrorists target refugee camp

After the meeting, five attacks were conducted by the PYD in the west direction.

The attacks, which the terrorists gave heavy losses, were repelled by the opposition. Refugee camps were also among the targets of the attacks conducted by the PYD terrorists in the direction of Atmel from Der Ballut, Cenderes and Kala Saman regions.

In the last 20 days, seven civilians have lost their lives in attacks by the PYD terrorist organization.

PKK/PYD attempt to disperse attention

The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) increased security measures on the Turkish side of the border in the wake of the increasing attacks by the terrorist organization stationed in Afrin.

The TAF, which dispatched troops, weapons and armored reinforcements to the region, closely monitors every movement of the PYD terrorist organization.

The PKK's attacks on military units in the Hatay-Amanos region are interpreted by experts as an attempt to disperse the attention of the Turkish Armed Forces in Afrin.

Assad’s reinforcement troops

Close to 800 troops linked to the Assad regime and under Qasem Soleimani’s command were sent to the PKK/PYD region as reinforcements.

The Assad regime and Iran alliance delivered 15 tanks, nine armored vehicles, weapons and ammunition to the PYD. A significant portion of the forces sent were sent to Der Ballut, while some were stationed in Tinneb.
