Iran’s president sets conditions for ending war with US, Israel

Masoud Pezeshkian stresses that any resolution must safeguard Iranian interests, citing national unity and popular demonstrations as key factors in Tehran’s resilience amid ongoing hostilities.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated Monday that any decision to conclude the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel must prioritize the security and interests of the Iranian people. Speaking during a cabinet meeting, he emphasized that the military’s resistance alongside the unity displayed by the public had been instrumental in navigating what he described as the country’s current critical circumstances.
Domestic solidarity as strategic asset
“The resistance shown by the army, along with the national unity shown by the Iranian people during the war, are among the most important factors that helped the country overcome the current critical circumstances,” Pezeshkian said, according to remarks carried by the state-run IRNA news agency. He also highlighted the significance of pro-government rallies held across various cities, describing them as a valuable component in reinforcing Tehran’s position. “The people’s gathering in the evening has great value,” he added, stating that Iran continues to serve as an inspiration for freedom movements.
Conflict enters second month
Pezeshkian’s remarks come as the confrontation between Iran and the US-Israel alliance enters its second month. The military campaign launched on Feb. 28 has resulted in more than 1,340 fatalities, including the death of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting American military infrastructure, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and widespread disruptions to global trade and aviation.
