Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Saturday that US forces attacked the southern city of Sirik, warning that Washington’s "aggression" would not go unanswered and that Tehran reserved the right to a "swift and decisive" response at a time and place of its choosing.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Saturday accused US forces of attacking the southern city of Sirik and warned that Washington’s actions would not go unpunished. The elite force said in a statement that Iran reserved the right to retaliate. "The response will be swift and decisive," the IRGC said, adding that any "new folly" would face a severe reaction that would "shatter the illusions of the aggressors in the region."

CENTCOM confirms Friday strikes

US Central Command said Friday that American forces had struck Iranian missile, drone and radar installations. The Pentagon said the strikes came after Tehran carried out an attack on a commercial vessel crossing the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM provided no further details on the vessel or the timing of the alleged incident.

Tensions escalate in Gulf waters

The latest exchange marks a sharp escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Washington and Tehran. The IRGC has repeatedly threatened to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz — a vital chokepoint for global oil shipments — in response to US military pressure. Washington has maintained a heightened military posture in the Gulf since the conflict began.
