Israeli forces carried out 82 strikes across southern and eastern Lebanon on Tuesday, killing at least four people including two paramedics, in one of the deadliest escalations since the ceasefire began in mid-April.

Wave of strikes hits Nabatieh and Bekaa ahead of Eid

Israeli forces launched 82 attacks across southern and eastern Lebanon on Tuesday, killing at least four people and wounding four more, according to an Anadolu tally based on Lebanon's National News Agency. The barrage — comprising 72 airstrikes and 10 artillery strikes by 1400GMT — came on the Day of Arafah, one day before Eid al-Adha.

The heaviest fire concentrated on the Nabatieh district, where at least 43 airstrikes hit Yohmor al-Shaqif, Zawtar al-Sharqiya, Doueir, and Sharqiya. Two people were killed in strikes on Zawtar al-Sharqiya. In Bint Jbeil, 13 airstrikes targeted multiple areas including Kherbet Selem, where a vehicle strike killed one person. Tyre district saw nine strikes on areas including Srifa, where one paramedic was killed and two others injured.

Phosphorus shells and eastern Bekaa strikes

Israeli artillery targeted several border areas, with phosphorus shells reportedly fired toward Shebaa in the Hasbaya district. In eastern Lebanon, a strike hit a crossing near the Qaraoun Dam in western Bekaa, cutting the road to Mashghara. Israeli drones were also reported over Beirut and its suburbs.

The escalation followed recent threats by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to intensify operations against Hezbollah and deliver what he described as "powerful strikes" amid concerns over the group's drone activities.

Death toll since March offensive

Since launching a large-scale offensive on March 2, Israel has killed 3,185 people and wounded 9,633 others in Lebanon, according to official Lebanese figures. The April 17 ceasefire has shown repeated strain, with Tuesday's attacks marking one of the most severe violations since the truce took effect.
