Israel launches new artillery, airstrikes across Gaza in latest ceasefire breach

Israeli forces carried out artillery and aerial attacks in Gaza City, central Gaza, and Khan Younis on Thursday, marking another violation of the ceasefire amid ongoing military deployments in the enclave.
The Israeli military conducted artillery strikes and airstrikes in multiple areas of the Gaza Strip on Thursday morning, signaling another breach of the active ceasefire agreement. Witnesses reported Israeli artillery and aircraft targeting the al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City, while artillery fire also hit eastern areas of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. In the south, Israeli military vehicles opened fire east of Khan Younis.
Continued Hostilities Despite Ceasefire
The attacks took place in zones where Israeli troops remain stationed, underscoring the fragile nature of the truce that nominally halted major combat operations. No immediate casualty figures or damage assessments were reported following the latest strikes. Palestinian authorities have consistently accused Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire, which paused a military offensive that has resulted in over 71,400 Palestinian fatalities—mostly women and children—and more than 171,000 injuries since October 2023.
Mounting Casualties Since the Truce
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, nearly 450 Palestinians have been killed and over 1,200 wounded in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire came into effect. Israel has also continued to restrict humanitarian access, refusing to reopen Gaza’s crossings despite a UN Security Council resolution adopted in November 2025 that demands a permanent ceasefire, unimpeded aid delivery, and reconstruction in the devastated enclave.
Humanitarian and Diplomatic Stalemate
The ongoing strikes and access restrictions highlight the deadlock in diplomatic efforts to achieve a durable peace and address Gaza’s catastrophic humanitarian situation. With Israeli forces still deployed within Gaza and intermittent attacks continuing, the risk of a broader military escalation remains high, further complicating relief operations and long-term recovery prospects for the Palestinian population.
