Israeli defense minister vows continued offensives in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, Yemen

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz pledged to sustain military operations across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and Yemen, despite international de-escalation efforts. He emphasized Israel's intent to maintain control of strategic areas and counter Iranian influence.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared on Wednesday that Israel will continue its military offensives in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and Yemen, underscoring a stance of persistent regional confrontation despite diplomatic calls for stability. Speaking during an Israeli Air Force training course attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, Katz outlined ongoing strategic objectives across each theater.
Detailed Regional Objectives
Katz stated that in Lebanon, Israel will apply “maximum force” against Hezbollah. Regarding Syria, he asserted that Israel “will not withdraw from Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh) and the security zone.” In Gaza, he reiterated the aim to dismantle Hamas and disarm the territory. Concerning Yemen, Katz vowed to continue operations to prevent Houthi military strengthening.
Claims Regarding Iran
The defense minister also addressed Israel’s conflict with Tehran, claiming that Israel had inflicted “significant damage on Iran’s nuclear and strategic capabilities.” He referenced reported strikes conducted “in cooperation with our American partners” but declined to provide further details, noting that security agencies are closely monitoring developments.
Context of Ongoing Conflicts
Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has resulted in over 71,000 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children, and more than 171,000 injuries since October 2023. The war has fueled regional escalation, triggering exchanges with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Yemen’s Houthis, as well as a 12‑day war with Iran in June that ended under a US‑brokered ceasefire. Israel has also repeatedly conducted cross‑border raids and airstrikes into Syria, targeting military sites and causing civilian casualties.
