The child's body, that of 3-year-old Ahed Tariq Al-Bayouk, who was killed when Israeli forces opened fire in the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah in southern Gaza, is seen at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, Gaza on December 07, 2025.

Israeli forces conducted blasts, shelling, and gunfire in Gaza on Monday in what Palestinian sources call new ceasefire violations. The actions included detonating buildings in Rafah and attacks near Khan Younis. The Gaza media office states hundreds of violations since October 10 have killed 373 Palestinians.

The Israeli military has been accused of conducting new operations in the Gaza Strip on Monday that constitute violations of the standing ceasefire agreement. According to Palestinian sources on the ground, these actions included controlled detonations of residential buildings, artillery fire, and helicopter attacks in areas under Israeli control, despite the truce that halted major combat operations.

Specific Incidents in Rafah and Khan Younis

Local sources reported that Israeli forces detonated residential buildings in western Rafah, a region fully under Israeli control per the ceasefire terms, and opened fire east of the city. Further, artillery and helicopter attacks were reported east of Khan Younis, also within zones controlled by the Israeli army. These actions highlight ongoing military activity in Gaza despite the formal cessation of the wider war.

Official Palestinian Tally of Ceasefire Breaches

The Gaza-based media office has released statistics alleging systematic breaches of the truce. It claims Israel has committed hundreds of ceasefire violations since the agreement took effect on October 10, 2025, resulting in 373 Palestinian fatalities and 970 injuries. These figures point to a volatile and unstable post-ceasefire environment on the ground.

Context of the Wider Conflict

The current ceasefire ended a major Israeli military offensive that began in October 2023. The Gaza health authorities report that the overall conflict resulted in more than 70,000 deaths and over 171,000 injuries, with a majority being women and children. The persistent reports of violations underscore the fragility of the truce and the immense challenges facing post-war Gaza, a situation of deep concern for the international community and regional stakeholders like Türkiye.
