Israeli strike hits area near Lebanon's largest dam

The National Litani River Authority said an Israeli airstrike targeted a road adjacent to the Qaraoun Dam in eastern Lebanon on Tuesday, scattering debris into the lake and marking the first such attack in the area since cross-border hostilities escalated in early March.
Attack on dam vicinity
Israeli forces struck a road adjacent to Lebanon's largest dam on Tuesday, causing rocks and debris to scatter into the surrounding lake though causing no structural damage to the facility itself, according to Lebanese authorities.
The National Litani River Authority stated that the explosion damaged the road and nearby areas but left the Qaraoun Dam's structure and facilities intact. Technical teams were dispatched to inspect the site and assess any potential safety risks, the agency said.
Pattern of strikes
The attack marked the first targeting of the area since cross-border hostilities intensified in early March, following the onset of US and Israeli military operations against Iran in late February. Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli forces also targeted a main road near the dam, disrupting traffic in the western Bekaa region.
