Israeli strikes kill at least 15 Palestinians in Gaza despite ceasefire, target tents and homes

Israeli attacks in Gaza killed at least 15 Palestinians, including women and children, early Wednesday, striking displacement tents, a house, and civilians in Khan Younis and Gaza City. The attacks occurred despite the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip killed at least 15 Palestinians, including women and children, and wounded several others early Wednesday, targeting displacement tents, a residential house, and groups of civilians in violation of the active ceasefire. Medical and local sources reported casualties across multiple locations in southern and northern Gaza.
Details of the Attacks
In Khan Younis, shelling around Street 5 in the al-Mawasi area killed two people—including a paramedic—and injured 12 others, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society. The organization said an Israeli helicopter struck a displacement tent, and when ambulance crews arrived, a drone targeted the rescue team. Nasser Hospital received three bodies from artillery fire on homes in the Qizan Rashwan area south of Khan Younis.
In Gaza City, four Palestinians were killed and others wounded by heavy shelling on homes in the al-Tuffah neighborhood. Al-Shifa Hospital received the bodies of two women and a girl after a tent was hit in al-Mahatta Park, and three more civilians—two elderly people and a child—were admitted following artillery fire in the al-Zeitoun neighborhood.
Ceasefire Violations Continue
The attacks mark further breaches of the ceasefire that took effect in October, despite the U.S. announcement in January that the second phase—including further Israeli withdrawals and reconstruction—had begun. The ceasefire ended a two-year Israeli offensive that killed nearly 72,000 Palestinians, wounded over 171,000, and destroyed about 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure. UN-led reconstruction is estimated to cost around $70 billion.
