Kuwait condemns Iranian strikes as 'blatant breach' of law

Kuwait's Foreign Ministry on Monday strongly condemned Iranian missile and drone attacks on its territory, describing the strikes as a blatant breach of international law and a grave threat to civilian safety and critical infrastructure.
The ministry said the repeated attacks constitute a serious escalation and direct violation of Kuwaiti sovereignty, undermining efforts to de-escalate regional tensions. "Kuwait reserves its full right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and defend its territory," the ministry said, adding that Iran bears full responsibility for the unlawful aggression.
Air defense operations
Kuwait's armed forces reported early Monday that air defense systems intercepted hostile missiles and drones after air raid sirens sounded across the emirate. The military activated emergency protocols to shield population centers once the incoming barrage was detected.

Regional conflict background
Tensions across the Middle East have escalated since February 28 when the United States and Israel launched military action against Iran, prompting retaliatory strikes and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. A ceasefire brokered by Pakistan took effect on April 8, but subsequent talks in Islamabad failed to produce a lasting agreement as Washington and Tehran continued exchanging proposals to resume direct negotiations.
