Lebanon’s Health Ministry announced on Friday that the death toll from Israeli attacks since March 2 has reached 2,618, with 8,094 people injured. In the past 24 hours alone, 32 people were killed and 74 wounded as a result of Israeli raids. Israel launched its offensive following Hezbollah’s retaliation linked to the broader Iran conflict, and more than one million people have been displaced from southern Lebanon.
Ceasefire violations
A 10-day ceasefire that took effect on April 17 was later extended until May 17, but Israeli forces continue to violate the truce daily through airstrikes, artillery shelling, and the demolition of homes. Israel also maintains what it calls a “buffer zone” in southern Lebanon, claiming it is necessary to prevent attacks from Hezbollah. An earlier truce was reached in November 2024 but was similarly short-lived.
