Speaking at the AdoptAI summit in Paris, he outlined plans for new infrastructure, supercomputers, and training programs to position France as a leading AI nation.
French President Emmanuel Macron has demanded a rapid acceleration in artificial intelligence implementation across France and Europe, emphasizing the urgent need for the continent to enhance its technological competitiveness. Addressing industry leaders at the AdoptAI summit in Paris's Grand Palais, Macron asserted that France possesses the necessary components to emerge as "one of the great AI nations" through strategic decisions and investments.
National Infrastructure and Talent Development
Macron highlighted France's growing talent pool, dynamic startup ecosystem exemplified by companies like Mistral AI and Doctolib, and low-carbon nuclear energy as foundational advantages. He announced the establishment of a fifth priority AI infrastructure site in Dunkirk offering over 700 MW of capacity and confirmed the upcoming deployment of France's exascale supercomputer "Alice Recoque," describing these developments as essential for competing with global technological powers.
Economic Integration and Workforce Training
The French president outlined ambitious targets for AI integration, stating that "all major companies and most SMEs must use AI in concrete ways" by 2030. To facilitate this transition, the government will deploy 300 AI ambassadors to assist businesses and train 50,000 public officials by 2026. These initiatives aim to ensure widespread adoption across both the private sector and government administration, positioning AI as a central component of France's economic strategy.
European Strategy and Market Protection
Macron advocated for a cohesive European approach built on regulatory simplification, substantial technological investments, and enhanced protection against dominance by US and Chinese tech giants. He revealed a letter of intent involving Mistral AI, SAP, France, and Germany to better coordinate Europe's industrial AI efforts and proposed transforming AdoptAI into an annual international forum to strengthen the continent's technological sovereignty and competitive position in the global AI revolution.
