Marksman plotting Spanish PM assassination arrested

Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez

Expert marksman Manuel Murillo Sanchez, 63, was arrested on suspicion of plotting an assassination targeting Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

Sanchez, a private security guard with experience handling long-range guns, allegedly mentioned his intention to attack the premier in various WhatsApp groups.

"An arsenal of weapons, consisting of 16 long-barreled weapons and 16 shotguns, was found at his home. He has been sent to prison following a court appearance,” said a spokesperson for the Mossos d’Esquadra police, near Barcelona.
