Operation Details and Confirmation
Mexico's Defense Ministry confirmed that Special Forces conducted the operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco, intending to apprehend Oseguera. Military personnel came under attack and responded in self-defense, resulting in four cartel members killed at the scene and three others fatally wounded during air evacuation to Mexico City. "Among the latter is Ruben 'N' (alias Mencho); however, the corresponding authorities will be in charge of the forensic activities to confirm his identification," the ministry stated. Two additional cartel members were arrested, and authorities seized armored vehicles and weapons including rocket launchers capable of shooting down aircraft.

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro issued a red alert and canceled in-person classes at schools Monday. Sheinbaum acknowledged the unrest, noting the Defense Ministry had reported on "various blockades and other reactions" following the federal operation, while reaffirming her administration works "every day for peace, security, justice, and the well-being of Mexico."
