Nine killed in Israeli strikes on south Lebanon despite truce

Residential buildings destroyed in Jibchit, Toul, and Harouf as daily violations continue despite extended ceasefire until May 17.
At least nine Lebanese civilians were killed and 13 others wounded in Israeli airstrikes on multiple towns in southern Lebanon on Thursday, marking yet another violation of the temporary ceasefire that began last month, according to Lebanese media.
Residential buildings destroyed in three towns
The state-run National News Agency reported that three people died and seven were injured in a strike on Jibchit, where a residential building was completely destroyed. In the town of Toul, four were killed and six wounded after another residential structure was hit. Two more fatalities were recorded in Harouf, where an Israeli aircraft struck a house. Israeli warplanes also targeted Sultaniyeh, while artillery shelling hit the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Mifadoun.
Ceasefire violations continue daily
Since March 2, Israel has waged a deadly offensive on Lebanon that has killed at least 2,534 people, wounded 7,863, and displaced more than 1.6 million — roughly one-fifth of the country’s population. A 10-day ceasefire that began on April 17 was later extended until May 17, but Israel continues to violate it daily through airstrikes and home demolitions in southern Lebanon.
