Pakistan PM says ‘things moving right direction’ on Iran-US war

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared that “things are moving in the right direction” to end the US‑Iran war, crediting Pakistan’s “sincere role” as mediator. Speaking in Beijing alongside China’s premier, he thanked Chinese support and praised army chief Munir’s engagement with both sides.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Monday that progress is being made toward ending the war between the United States and Iran. In remarks before meeting Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing, Sharif stated: “Things are moving in the right direction.” He noted that Pakistan’s ongoing mediation has already shown progress and that Islamabad played a “sincere role” in bringing the warring parties to the table.
Army chief’s mediation efforts
Sharif praised the role of Pakistani army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, who remained in touch with leadership on both sides. Munir visited Tehran last week for talks with top Iranian officials as part of Islamabad’s mediation. “We hope and pray that peace will be restored, and lots of ground has already been covered,” Sharif said, thanking China for supporting Pakistan’s mediation efforts. He added that the crisis has hit not only the regional economy but the entire global community.
China’s support and CPEC cooperation
Chinese Premier Li Qiang hailed Pakistan’s role in injecting “positive energy to regional peace.” The meeting marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two neighbours. Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the China‑Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its next phase, focusing on industrialisation, connectivity, agriculture, digital transformation, and clean energy. Both sides signed several MOUs on trade, agriculture, education, and industrial cooperation.
