A Palestinian baby is taken to Nasser Hospital for medical treatment following the Israeli attack on tents housing displaced people in the al-Mawasi area despite the ceasefire agreement in Khan Yunis, Gaza, Palestine on May 25, 2026. A six-year-old child and a woman were killed and 20 people, most of them children and women, were injured in the attack.
Ceasefire violations
The attack occurred despite a ceasefire agreement that has been in place since October 2025. Israeli forces have continued daily violations, killing hundreds of Palestinians and maintaining a blockade that has worsened humanitarian conditions in the enclave.
Displacement camps
The al-Mawasi area houses displaced families who fled their homes during the war. Tents and makeshift shelters have been repeatedly targeted, with civilians bearing the brunt of ongoing hostilities.
Gaza war toll
Israel's war on Gaza since October 2023 has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured over 172,000. About 90% of civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, with reconstruction costs estimated at $70 billion.
