Poland activates NATO air operation as Russian strikes hit Ukraine

Poland scrambled allied fighter jets and activated air defense systems in response to renewed Russian bombardment across Ukraine. The NATO‑backed operation concluded with no violation of Polish airspace, Warsaw confirmed. Meanwhile, overnight Russian strikes killed at least four people in Ukraine and wounded nearly 20 others.
Poland conducted a coordinated airspace operation on Tuesday with support from NATO allies following a fresh wave of Russian strikes targeting Ukrainian territory. The Polish Armed Forces Operational Command announced that operations involving Polish and allied aviation had concluded, with ground‑based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems activated as a precautionary measure during the attack.
NATO assets mobilized
“We inform that no violation of the Republic of Poland’s airspace was observed,” the command said in a statement. Warsaw also acknowledged the assistance of NATO Air Command, the Spanish air force, and Dutch armed forces, whose aircraft and air defense systems contributed to securing Polish skies during the heightened alert.
Casualties across Ukraine
Ukrainian authorities reported that at least four civilians were killed and 19 others injured in overnight strikes that hit multiple regions. Russian officials have yet to comment on the latest bombardment, which marks another escalation in Moscow’s ongoing campaign against its neighbor.
