Qatar delegation in Tehran for talks to end Iran-US war

A Qatari delegation is negotiating with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran as part of efforts to end the war, while Pakistan remains the primary mediator between Washington and Tehran. Pakistan’s army chief arrived in Tehran on Friday for another round of mediation.
A Qatari delegation is engaged in talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran to help end the war that began on February 28 when the US and Israel launched military strikes against Iran. Iran’s semi‑official Tasnim news agency reported, citing Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, that the Qatari team is negotiating alongside ongoing Pakistani mediation. “The mediator between the US and Iran remains the Pakistani side,” Tasnim noted.
Pakistan’s mediation intensifies
Early Friday, Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, arrived in Tehran for his second mediation trip. He was received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also present. Munir will discuss Iran‑US talks, regional peace and stability, and other critical issues. Naqvi has been in Tehran for two days as part of indirect negotiations. Pakistan secured a ceasefire on April 8 and hosted the highest‑level direct talks between the US and Iran since 1979 on April 11‑12.
Qatar’s role
While Qatar has joined the diplomatic effort, Pakistan remains the lead mediator. The talks aim to secure a second round of direct negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
