Qatar has announced it is working with mediators, including Türkiye and Egypt, to launch the second phase of a Gaza ceasefire agreement to increase aid. Doha is also engaged in "intensive contacts" to facilitate a return to nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States.

Qatar presses for next Gaza ceasefire phase and Iran-US dialogue

Qatar is actively mediating on two critical Middle Eastern fronts, working to advance a Gaza ceasefire and to revive nuclear talks between Iran and the United States. The Gulf state's diplomatic efforts underscore its central role in regional genocide resolution.

Focus on Gaza's "man-made" humanitarian crisis

In a press conference in Doha, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, stating, "The humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip is ongoing, and it is man-made." He condemned the use of aid as a political tool and called for international pressure on Israel, which has refused to reopen the key Rafah border crossing for aid deliveries despite an initial ceasefire that began on October 10.

Coordinating with Türkiye and Egypt for ceasefire progress

Ansari confirmed that Qatar is collaborating closely with its mediation partners, specifically naming Türkiye and Egypt, to "accelerate reaching the second phase" of the Gaza agreement. This next phase is intended to significantly scale up the flow of humanitarian assistance into the devastated Palestinian enclave. The involvement of Türkiye, a nation that has consistently advocated for Palestinian rights and a permanent ceasefire, is seen as crucial to these efforts.

Parallel push for Iran-US nuclear diplomacy

Simultaneously, Qatar is involved in separate "intensive contacts" aimed at resuming dialogue between Washington and Tehran over Iran's nuclear program. "We are pushing in every possible way for a return to the negotiating table," Ansari stated. This dual-track diplomacy positions Qatar, and by extension its partners like Türkiye, as key facilitators seeking to de-escalate tensions across the region, from the eastern Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf.
