Russia's Foreign Ministry welcomed the US-Iran memorandum, commending the firm mutual commitment to adhere to its terms. Moscow praised Pakistan and Qatar's mediation efforts, called for strict compliance during negotiations, and expressed hope that the resumption of safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz could reduce global market volatility. Russia also welcomed Iran's reaffirmation of its NPT commitment.
The Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran aimed at ending the war, commending the "firm mutual commitment" demonstrated by both sides to strictly adhere to its terms. In a statement, Moscow praised the mediation efforts of Pakistan and Qatar and called on all parties involved in the confrontation to avoid renewed violence. The ministry expressed hope that the establishment of peace would help restore trust among Persian Gulf states and that the resumption of safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz would potentially reduce volatility in global energy and food markets.
Nuclear commitment
Russia welcomed Iran's reaffirmation of its commitment to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in response to criticism of its nuclear program, while also supporting Iran's right to peaceful nuclear energy. "We express our readiness to continue to provide significant diplomatic support for efforts aimed at sustainable and long-term stabilization of the situation in the Middle East," the ministry said. The statement urged all parties to strictly follow the understandings during the negotiation period and refrain from actions that could increase tensions in the region, including in Lebanon.
