Israeli army reports missiles detected from Iran, with air defenses intercepting one projectile; no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

Air raid sirens sounded Monday evening in the southern Israeli city of Dimona and surrounding areas in the Negev desert following a rocket barrage launched from Iran, the Israeli military announced. The attack marks the latest in Tehran's ongoing retaliatory campaign.

Multiple barrages detected

In a statement, the army said it had detected missiles launched from Iran, with air defense systems working to intercept incoming projectiles. Sirens were activated in Dimona and nearby areas, including the Yeruham settlement, following what was described as a "limited barrage." Channel 12 later reported that air defenses intercepted one missile in the area, with no injuries reported.

Second attack targets Eilat

Separately, the army said it detected a second rocket barrage headed toward the southern port city of Eilat, triggering sirens in the city, the Shahorit industrial zone, and the Eilot settlement. No further details were immediately available on damage or casualties from either attack.

Ongoing retaliation

The rocket barrages come as the conflict enters its fourth week, following the US-Israeli joint offensive against Iran launched Feb. 28. That campaign has killed more than 1,340 people, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran has continued its retaliatory strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and infrastructure damage while disrupting global markets and aviation.
