Sisi rules out Israel normalization without Palestinian state

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi told attendees at a military facility inauguration on Saturday that popular normalization with Israel remains impossible without a just peace ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state, warning that lasting stability requires restoring rights to their rightful owners.
Normalization conditions
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Saturday ruled out any "popular normalization" with Israel in the absence of a comprehensive peace settlement. He insisted that durable stability requires an end to the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony for the State Strategic Command headquarters in Egypt's New Administrative Capital, Sisi told attendees that genuine reconciliation depends on addressing underlying grievances. "There will be no lasting peace, no true stability, and no popular normalization except with a just peace that ends the occupation, puts an end to injustice and aggression, restores rights to their rightful owners, and provides security for all," he said, adding that such an outcome would offer "an opportunity to live in stability and prosperity."
Regional diplomacy
The Egyptian leader also voiced support for the Gaza ceasefire that took effect in October 2025, aligning Cairo with recent diplomatic efforts. He further endorsed a framework agreement between Iran and the United States intended to end their ongoing conflict, warning against any attempts to undermine these fragile initiatives.
Military modernization
During the same address, Sisi outlined the capabilities of the newly inaugurated command center, describing it as an integrated facility featuring advanced technological infrastructure and secure communications linking political and military leadership. "The command is not only responsible for managing military situations but also serves as a cornerstone of the state's ability to confront challenges and exceptional circumstances," he noted, emphasizing the facility's role in enhancing Cairo's command-and-control functions.
