Pakistan signals agreement near
Pakistani Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir told Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a meeting in Beijing on Monday that a US-Iran agreement "is close to being reached," according to Chinese state media reports. Munir briefed Wang on the latest developments in Islamabad's mediation role during talks held alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's official visit to China, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
Islamabad intensifies diplomacy
The Pakistani army chief traveled to Beijing following a trip to Tehran last week where he held discussions with Iranian leadership on easing tensions with Washington, and expressed willingness to continue facilitating negotiations. Munir also urged China to assume a larger role in the process, according to the Foreign Ministry.
