Türkiye is set to host the world's premier space conference, the International Astronautical Congress, this October in Antalya. The event is expected to draw thousands of global experts and highlight the nation's ambitions under its National Space Program.

Türkiye will host the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), the world's largest space industry and science event, from October 5 to 9 in the Mediterranean city of Antalya. The announcement was made by Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir, who emphasized the congress's role in showcasing Türkiye's advancing space capabilities.

A Global Meeting Point for Space Sector

Minister Kacir stated that preparations for the major gathering are progressing rapidly. The event is designed to be a central meeting point for a global audience, including scientists, students, entrepreneurs, space agencies, and corporate leaders from around the world. A recent steering committee meeting was held in Ankara with key stakeholder institutions to coordinate the large-scale organization.

Showcasing Türkiye's Space Ambitions

The minister framed the congress as a pivotal platform to announce Türkiye's rise in space science and technology. "We will leave our mark on an event that befits our country," Kacir said, linking this global stage directly to the objectives of the National Space Program championed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He added that the goal is to ensure space efforts contribute to humanity's shared future.

Expected Impact and Participation

Turkish Space Agency (TUA) Chair Yusuf Kirac, speaking last month, projected that the IAC would attract over 10,000 space professionals to Antalya, marking a historic moment for the country's space vision. Kirac encouraged domestic academics and youth to engage actively, noting the opportunities for publishing research and networking with leading international companies attending the congress.
