Two Palestinians killed in Gaza as ceasefire violations continue, health officials report

Israeli attacks in Gaza on Monday resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians and injured a child, according to local medical sources, marking the latest reported breach of a ceasefire agreement in the enclave.
Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip on Monday left two Palestinians dead and a young girl injured, medics reported, in what local authorities describe as another violation of the active ceasefire. The incidents occurred in separate areas of the coastal enclave, underscoring the fragility of the truce that halted a two-year war.
Details of the Attacks
Medical sources confirmed that a 52-year-old man was killed by artillery shelling targeting the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. Witnesses reported the shells struck Block 12, an area near zones controlled by Israeli forces under the terms of the October 10 ceasefire. In a separate incident in northeastern Gaza City, a Palestinian man was fatally shot by Israeli gunfire in the al-Zarqa area of the al-Tuffah neighborhood. Additionally, a child was wounded by Israeli army fire in the al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Context of Ongoing Tensions
Palestinian authorities have repeatedly accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire agreement, which ended a military offensive that began in October 2023. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the conflict resulted in over 71,000 fatalities, predominantly women and children, and nearly 171,400 injuries prior to the truce. Since the ceasefire took effect, the ministry reports at least 484 Palestinians have been killed and 1,321 injured amid ongoing sporadic violence and military operations.
