Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted a new sanctions package targeting 95 individuals and 70 legal entities alleged to be involved in supporting Russia's military-industrial complex. The decree, based on a decision by Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, primarily targets Russian citizens and residents.
Scope of the Sanctions
According to a statement from the presidential office, the sanctioned parties are linked to servicing Russia's state defense order. This includes enterprises and their executives producing and supplying communications equipment, electronic warfare systems, and microelectronics for Russian military and security agencies. The sanctions also extend to industrial companies within Russia's chemical, extractive, metallurgical, and fuel and energy sectors.
International Coordination
Ukraine stated it will continue working with international partners to synchronize these sanctions within "partner jurisdictions." The presidential office indicated that some listings will be reflected in the European Union's upcoming 20th sanctions package against Russia. This move is part of Kyiv's ongoing strategy to economically pressure Moscow and disrupt its war effort through coordinated international measures.
