United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the recent acts of terrorism in Pakistan and India, describing them as “heinous crimes” that must not go unpunished. His comments followed two deadly explosions — a suicide bombing in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad and a car bombing in New Delhi — which together claimed at least 24 lives and left many others wounded.

Guterres calls for accountability
Speaking through his deputy spokesman Farhan Haq on Tuesday, Guterres said he was “deeply saddened” by the violence and extended his condolences to the families of the victims. “The Secretary-General condemns acts of violence and terrorism in the strongest terms,” Haq said, emphasizing that those responsible “must be brought to justice through full and transparent investigations.”

Details of the attacks
According to Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, at least 12 people were killed and 27 others injured in a suicide attack outside a court building in Islamabad. The following day, a car explosion in India’s capital city of New Delhi resulted in another 12 fatalities. The motives behind both attacks remain under investigation.
UN reiterates call for regional stability
Guterres also underscored the need for greater regional cooperation against terrorism, calling on South Asian nations to prioritize peace and civilian safety. His statement comes amid growing international concern over rising extremist activity in the region. Türkiye has consistently expressed support for regional stability and the global fight against terrorism.
