The International Federation of Journalists reported Friday that the headquarters of Iran's national daily Sazandegi in Tehran sustained heavy damage in joint US-Israeli strikes. The reformist newspaper's building was directly hit, though no casualties were reported, as the conflict's sixth day saw the death toll surpass 1,000.

The Tehran headquarters of Iran's national newspaper Sazandegi has been severely damaged in the ongoing US-Israeli military campaign, the International Federation of Journalists confirmed Friday. In a written statement, the IFJ reported that the reformist daily's building was directly hit during Friday's strikes, though no casualties were recorded at the site.

Newspaper Profile

Sazandegi, founded in 2018, is a reformist publication that was briefly suspended by Iranian authorities in February 2023 following a critical front-page story on the economy and rising prices, though the ban was later lifted. The targeting of media infrastructure marks an expansion of the campaign's scope beyond military and security installations.

Escalating Conflict

Saturday's large-scale US-Israeli attack on Iran has now killed more than 1,000 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, over 150 schoolgirls, and senior military officials. Tehran has responded with sweeping retaliatory barrages targeting US bases, diplomatic facilities, and military personnel across the region, as well as multiple Israeli cities, with attacks continuing to escalate.
