Joint US-Israeli airstrikes hit key airports in northern and western Iran on Tuesday, including Khorramabad and Mehrabad. Explosions were reported across Tehran and the central city of Qom, damaging residential areas, commercial shops, a power facility, and a synagogue. No casualties have been confirmed. Iranian state media confirmed the strikes.

On Tuesday, joint airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel targeted multiple locations across northern and western Iran, according to Iranian media reports. Khorramabad Airport in the west and Mehrabad Airport in the north were among the key infrastructure hit. Explosions also shook parts of the capital Tehran and the holy city of Qom, with residential neighborhoods, commercial shops, and even a synagogue reported damaged. Authorities in Türkiye are closely monitoring the escalation, given its potential to destabilize the region and affect Turkish airspace and trade routes.

Strikes extend to Tehran neighborhoods and Yazd

Iranian state broadcaster IRIB confirmed that several areas in Tehran were struck overnight, including the Tehranpars and Saadat Abad districts. A power facility along Hakim Highway was damaged, and commercial shops in the Molavi neighborhood were hit. In central Iran, a deputy governor of Yazd stated that two locations outside the city were targeted by projectiles, causing damage to some infrastructure. Meanwhile, a synagogue in the Enghelab area of Tehran was among the sites hit, though no group has claimed it as a deliberate target.

No casualties confirmed as Türkiye urges restraint

As of Tuesday evening, no official casualty figures have been released. Iranian authorities have not yet issued a comprehensive damage assessment. The strikes mark a significant escalation in the ongoing US-Israeli campaign against Tehran. From Ankara, diplomatic sources indicated that Türkiye is in contact with all parties to prevent a wider conflagration. Turkish officials have previously warned that military action on Iranian soil could trigger refugee flows and disrupt energy supplies passing through neighboring territories.

Wider regional impact

The Strait of Hormuz and critical infrastructure in Iran remain under scrutiny. For Türkiye, which shares a border with Iran to the east, any sustained conflict could affect cross-border trade, tourism, and security cooperation. While Tehran has not announced retaliatory measures, analysts expect a response in the coming days. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has consistently called for dialogue over military solutions, a stance likely to be reiterated in the wake of these strikes.
