Nearly 20,000 black-tailed gulls breed nestlings on snake island in China
Enormous flocks of black-tailed gulls will fly southward to the Snake Island in Dalian City of northeast China's Liaoning Province for nesting and breeding every early summer. Flocks of black-tailed gulls hover and soar over the steep cliff on the east side of the Snake Island. Adult black-tailed gulls are 40 to 50 centimeters in length. Their bodies are white, their wings are gray and, as the name suggests, they have black tails. The birds have a cat-like call, so they are also called "sea cat".
